Villages
When to go
Apr / Jun
The high plains are in flower and the streams run full. Go for the gorges and the mid-altitude trails.
Jul / Sep
Up high it stays cool even in August. Peaks at dawn, evenings in the square and festivals in the villages.
Oct / Nov
The beech woods turn copper. Mushrooms, chestnuts, food festivals. For us, the best weeks for photos.
Dec / Mar
When it snows, Piano Battaglia has skiing and snowshoe walks. Then you drive down to a village to eat.
