What lifts are there at Piano Battaglia?

Three, all renewed between 2012 and 2017 by the Metropolitan City of Palermo, which owns them.

  • Mufara two-seater chairlift (2015): from the plateau to the shoulder of Monte Mufara, from 1,563 to 1,833 m, in about 6 minutes.
  • Mufaretta ski tow: a button lift starting near the chairlift.
  • Marmotta magic carpet: a moving walkway in the base area, for people on skis for the first time.

They are run by Palermo Energia, a company owned by the Metropolitan City. The tender to hand them to a private operator for nine years drew no bids, and the management has been extended until 31 March 2027.

Which runs?

Three, on the slopes of Monte Mufara, about 4.5 km in all.

  • Giovanni Falcone, blue, served by the ski tow.
  • Paolo Borsellino, red, from the chairlift.
  • Vincenzo Mollica, black, from the chairlift.

The lengths of the individual runs are not published, so we don’t give them.

How much does skiing cost?

On the 2025/26 price list a day pass cost €30 on weekdays and €35 on weekends and holidays. An afternoon pass €15 and €20.

The reduced price is for children up to 14 and people over 65. The magic carpet alone cost €15 a day.

When fresh snow makes it impossible to groom the runs, the operator has offered a discounted ticket in the past (notice of 18 January 2025). The 2026-27 price list is not out yet.

When does it open?

Only with enough snow: the lifts listed in the Metropolitan City’s tender include no snowmaking equipment. Palermo Energia’s notices often come out the evening before: openings, closures, lifts stopped by a fault or by wind.

The last winter opening hours announced were 9:00-15:30. On snowy weekends the Metropolitan City estimates 7,000-9,000 people a day on the plateau: get there early.
