Report an event or an error

To report an event or a mistake, write to info@lemadonie.it. For an event we need the name, dates, place and a link to the official source or the poster; for a mistake, the page and the correct information with its source. We only publish what we can verify.

How do you report an event?

Write to info@lemadonie.it with the subject “Event” and these details:

  1. name of the event, as the organiser writes it;
  2. start and end dates, with times if you know them;
  3. place: the village and the square, church or area;
  4. official source: a link to the page of the town council, the organiser, the Pro Loco or the parish, or the poster as an attachment (photo or PDF);
  5. organiser and a public contact, if there is one;
  6. price or free entry, if the source says so.

Which events do we publish?

Events open to the public in the villages covered by the guide, listed on the villages page: food festivals, religious and patron saint feasts, concerts and festivals, markets, races and organised walks. Each event has its own page, stable over the years, with past editions and the upcoming one.

We don’t publish private or invitation-only events, or events without a source anyone can check.

How do you report a mistake?

Write to info@lemadonie.it with the subject “Correction” and:

  • the page address (copy it from your browser’s address bar);
  • what is wrong, even in one sentence;
  • the correct information and a link to the page where you found it.

If the mistake is on a hotel, B&B or restaurant page, the information comes from OpenStreetMap: correcting it there is the most lasting fix, because every Monday we rebuild the listings from that source.

What happens after you report something?

  1. We open the source you sent and check the information.
  2. If the source confirms it, we update the page and its date. An event goes into the calendar and onto the pages of its village.
  3. If the source isn’t enough (an anonymous post, last year’s poster), we wait for confirmation. We may write to you to ask for a detail.

How we check information in general is explained in How we work.

Why is there no form to fill in?

The site is made of static pages, with no server collecting data. An email is the simplest way for us and for you, and it saves us from storing data about the people who visit the site. What we do with your address is explained in Privacy and cookies.

Frequently asked questions

Can I report an event that has no official website?
A poster is fine, even a photo of one, as long as it shows the name, dates, place and organiser. A social media post works if it was published by the official page of the town council, the Pro Loco, the parish or the organiser. Word of mouth or a forwarded message is not enough: without a source anyone can check, the event stays on hold.
How far ahead should I report an event?
The earlier, the better. Every Monday we recheck the events of the following eight weeks, so a report that arrives a month ahead has time to reach the calendar and the village pages. For an event only a few days away, put the date in the email subject line so we see it straight away.
Does it cost anything to have an event listed on lemadonie.it?
Right now reporting and listing an event costs nothing, and the site has no paid events or featured spots for sale. Events go into the calendar when they have an official source we can check, and a small village feast gets the same treatment as a well-known festival.
I run a hotel or restaurant and the details are wrong: what should I do?
Hotel and restaurant listings come from OpenStreetMap. Correct the name, opening hours, phone number or website directly on openstreetmap.org, with a free account, and write to us at info@lemadonie.it: the change reaches the site with the weekly update on Monday. If the business has closed, send us a source that confirms it.
