Tent and campervan

Campsites and camper stops in the Madonie

The Madonie campsites are almost all on the coast, between Cefalù and Finale di Pollina, a few steps from the sea and less than an hour from the high plains. Inland there is a farm campsite in the Gole di Tiberio area. For campervans there are equipped campsites and a car park in Cefalù: each listing has contacts, source and the date of the last check.

Opening hours, prices and seasons change: call before you go.

Where are the campsites?

On the coast, in two areas:

  • around Cefalù, with several campsites near the town;
  • at Finale, the seaside hamlet of Pollina.

Inland there is a farm campsite in the area of the Gole di Tiberio, the canyon cut by the Pollina river: a good base if you want to walk along the river.

Sea in the morning, mountains in the afternoon?

You can. From Cefalù, Castelbuono is about 23 km and Isnello about 21 km away, and from Isnello you climb to Piano Zucchi and Piano Battaglia. Allow about an hour from the coast to the high plains (OSRM distances on OpenStreetMap on the roads page).

What should you know if you travel by campervan?

The roads up to the plains are mountain roads with hairpin bends. In winter chain rules apply on the inland main roads and snow can close the highest stretches: check the Piano Battaglia weather and the notices before you drive up.

Frequently asked questions

Where can you camp in the Madonie?
At authorised campsites: among our listings there are campsites on the coast at Cefalù and at Finale di Pollina and a farm campsite towards the Gole di Tiberio. Before pitching a tent outside these places, inside Madonie Park, ask the park authority, which has its own rules for each protection zone.
Where can campervans stop in the Madonie?
At the coastal campsites, which also take campervans, and at car parks listed as such in our pages, such as the one in Cefalù. On the mountain roads, especially the SP54 to Piano Battaglia, there are tight bends and steep stretches: with a large vehicle, plan your route carefully.
Are the campsites open in winter?
We have no reliable general figure: each campsite sets its own opening periods. Before you leave between October and April, call the campsite or check its website.
Are there picnic areas in Madonie Park?
The park authority manages several equipped areas for stopping and picnics, such as the Sanguisughe area near Polizzi Generosa. They are not campsites: for opening times, facilities and rules, check the pages on the park authority's website.
