The Targa Florio Rally is today’s version of the race born in 1906: a round of the Italian Rally Championship that every May brings rally cars to the roads of the Madonie, with more than 140 km of special stages between Collesano, Scillato, Polizzi Generosa, Geraci Siculo, Castelbuono and Pollina. On the same days the Targa Florio Historic Rally is held for historic cars. In 2026 the 110th edition ran from 14 to 16 May, starting from Piazza Verdi in Palermo.
When is it held?
In May, from Thursday to Saturday. Thursday brings the shakedown, the test before the race, and in the evening the start ceremony in front of the Teatro Massimo. Friday and Saturday are for the special stages in the Madonie. The 109th edition ran from 8 to 10 May 2025, the 110th from 14 to 16 May 2026.
The 2027 dates haven’t come out yet. The championship calendar is on the ACI Sport website, which also publishes the programme, maps and road closure times.

The special stages in the Madonie
The four 2026 stages follow sections of the historic race (Madonie Press):
- La Montedoro (12.5 km), between Campofelice di Roccella and Collesano, on the roads of the Little Madonie Circuit.
- Scillato-La Generosa (14.8 km), on the mountain side between Scillato and Polizzi Generosa.
- Geraci-Castelbuono (15 km), a section of the Great Madonie Circuit.
- Pollina (14.6 km), between the inland hills and the eastern slopes facing the Tyrrhenian Sea, also run at night.
Who takes part
In 2026 there were 169 entries: 55 in the Campionato Italiano Assoluto Rally Sparco, 47 in the Italian Historic Rally Championship, 33 in the Coppa Rally di Zona and 34 in historic regularity. The race gave points with an increased 1.5 coefficient and was also the first round of the CIAR Junior, with six young drivers in Lancia Ypsilon Rally4 HF cars.
The winners were the ACI Team Italia crew of Roberto Daprà and Luca Guglielmetti in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, with five fastest stage times. At the finish of the last stage in Collesano, writes ACI Sport, there was “a sea of people”. Fourth overall was the Sicilian Andrea Nucita, winner of the CIR Promozione.
How to watch the rally
The special stages are run on roads closed to traffic, and spectators line the route: L’Automobile describes fans “crowded onto the walls from the early hours of the morning”. Before you go, download the road closure timetable from the ACI Sport website, because during the stages those roads are closed.
In Palermo the public moments are the start in Piazza Verdi and the finish at the university campus on viale delle Scienze, which in 2026 also hosted the service park. The main stages were broadcast live on ACI Sport TV and, for La Montedoro, also on RaiPlay.
