The Mostra dell’Artigianato and Mado Cooking Together is a three-day craft and food fair in the old town of Gangi, in early September. It showcases craftspeople, producers and companies from the Madonie with stalls, tastings, street food, cooking shows, a wine masterclass and a fashion show in Piazza del Popolo. The second edition took place from 4 to 6 September 2026.

What it is and who runs it

The event is young: 2026 was its second edition. It is promoted by the Centro Commerciale Naturale di Gangi with local businesses, the town council, BCC Madonie and co-funding from the Sicilian Region, as part of the project “La Sicilia che piace”.

The stalls cover food, artistic crafts, design, sustainable fashion and green home products, with an eye on how traditional trades meet new technologies. According to the president of the Centro Commerciale Naturale, Alberto Virga, the 2026 edition drew large crowds and strong participation from businesses (Madonie Press).

What to eat and drink

The food theme is Madonie cooking: local produce tastings on Friday, traditional street food on Saturday evening, and on Sunday a cooking show with typical recipes reworked in a lighter, healthier way. Saturday’s masterclass was devoted to two Sicilian grapes, Grillo and Perricone, with wines from Tenuta San Giaime.

Practical tips

Gangi sits at 1,011 metres. From Palermo it’s about 116 km and an hour and 40 minutes, via the Tremonzelli exit on the A19 and then the SS120; from Petralia Sottana it’s 16 km (see getting to the Madonie by car). Sources don’t mention dedicated car parks.

The fair happens mostly in the evening, so it makes sense to stay in town: you’ll find places on where to stay in Gangi and restaurants on where to eat in Gangi. Before you go, check the Gangi weather.

To get to know the town, start from the Gangi page. In summer Gangi also hosts the Sagra della Spiga and the Notte Bianca; in December there’s the living nativity. Other fairs are on the Madonie markets and fairs page.
