The Cefalù Art Expo is a group exhibition of contemporary art at the Ottagono di Santa Caterina, in Piazza Duomo in Cefalù. In 2026 it was open from 3 to 16 August with 43 artists, free entry and evening hours too, from 18:00 to 22:00: you can stop by after the beach, before dinner.

The exhibition is created and curated by Maria and Sonia Di Pasquale, who have been organising contemporary art exhibitions and awards with Italian and foreign institutions for years. Madonie Press presented it as a “new edition”; we found no documented dates for previous ones.

What you will see

The works are by Italian and foreign artists chosen by the curators for their research and for the exhibitions they have held in Italy and abroad. In 2026 there were painting, sculpture, photography and installations. “Each artist was chosen for the authenticity of their research”, the curators told Il Cefalino.

The venue is the Ottagono di Santa Caterina, in Piazza Duomo, a few steps from the Cathedral. The council uses it for exhibitions all year round.

The 2026 calendar

Besides the exhibition, the programme had a few special days:

Date What
Monday 3 August, 18:00 opening
4, 5 and 8 August performances: the artists work live and talk with the public
9 August “Oltre la Tela”, an international video exhibition of another 43 works
Every day until 16 August open 10:00-13:00 and 18:00-22:00, free entry

Tips for your visit

August in Cefalù is a month of festivals. During the exhibition, on 6 August, there is the feast of the Santissimo Salvatore, with the evening procession passing right through Piazza Duomo, and in the afternoon the ’Ntinna a mari at the pier in Piazza Marina. That day the square is full: if you want to see the works in peace, choose the morning.

Cefalù is about 72 km from Palermo, just over an hour on the A19 and A20, according to the guide to driving in the Madonie. For the night see where to stay in Cefalù and for meals where to eat in Cefalù. If you have time before the evening opening, the climb to the Rocca di Cefalù is best done early in the morning, before the heat.

Other exhibitions and festivals are on the culture in the Madonie page and the Cefalù events page.
