# Free widgets and badges for towns, Pro Loco and businesses

> If you look after the website of a town council, a Pro Loco, an association or a hotel, B&B or restaurant in the Madonie, here you get three widgets to embed for free (upcoming events, weather, snow today at Piano Battaglia) and a badge for your listing. All we ask is that you keep the link to Le Madonie visible under the widget. No cookies, no tracking, no sign-up.

## What can you put on your website?

- **Upcoming events.** The next four dates in your town, or across the Madonie, each linking to the event page. If your town has fewer, the widget adds the next events in the other towns. They are the dates we check against the official source, the same as in the [events calendar](https://www.lemadonie.it/en/events/).
- **Weather.** Temperature, sky, wind, snow on the ground, freezing level and the next five days, for a mountain spot (Piano Battaglia, Pizzo Carbonara, Portella Colla, Piano Zucchi, Piano Sempria) or one of the towns. It is the forecast from our [weather pages](https://www.lemadonie.it/en/weather/), by Open-Meteo, with the CC BY 4.0 licence shown in the widget.
- **Snow today at Piano Battaglia.** Snow on the ground, snowfall expected over 7 days, freezing level, temperatures and gusts, plus the status of lifts and roads with the date of the last check. It sums up the page [Snow today at Piano Battaglia](https://www.lemadonie.it/en/snow/piano-battaglia-snow-today/).
- **Badges.** “Find us on Le Madonie” for hotels, B&Bs, farm stays, mountain huts, restaurants and food shops with a listing in the guide; “Guide to the Madonie” for town councils and Pro Loco.

Every widget comes in Italian, English, Spanish, French and German, with a light, dark or automatic theme.

## How do you embed a widget?

1. Pick the widget, place, language and theme in the configurator at the top of the page.
2. Press “Copy the code”.
3. Paste the code into your page, in an HTML block. In WordPress it is the “Custom HTML” block; in other editors look for “HTML code” or “embed”.

The widget takes the width of the column, up to 480 pixels, and has a fixed height. Under the frame the code adds a text link to the right page of the guide, for example “Events in Castelbuono on Le Madonie”: it credits the source, and it has to stay visible.

## What are the terms of use?

- Widgets and badges are free, commercial websites included.
- The link under the widget and the badge link stay visible and clickable.
- What the widget shows is not changed or passed off as your own.
- There are no ads in the widgets and no account to create.

If you want to stop, just remove the code from the page. There is nothing else to cancel.

## Do the widgets track the visitors of my website?

The widget sets no cookies and uses no analytics. The widget page is served by Cloudflare, which hosts lemadonie.it and sees the technical data of every request (IP address, browser). The weather and snow widgets ask Open-Meteo for the forecast from the visitor's browser, just like our weather pages.

Widget and badge links end with a parameter such as `?ref=widget-eventi`. It tells us how many clicks come from each tool, without knowing who makes them. For everything else, see [Privacy and cookies](https://www.lemadonie.it/en/privacy/).

## What do town councils and Pro Loco get here?

- **Free event listings.** Send us the poster or the link to the official page: the event goes into the calendar, the town page and the widget. How to do it is explained in [Report an event or an error](https://www.lemadonie.it/en/report/).
- **The town's iCal calendar.** An .ics file to add to Google Calendar, Outlook or your phone, which updates on its own. You find it in the [open data](https://www.lemadonie.it/en/open-data/#calendari), with the JSON and CSV files of events and villages under CC BY 4.0.
- **The town page.** Every town in the guide has its own page with things to do, trails, events, places to stay and places to eat: the list is on the [villages](https://www.lemadonie.it/en/villages/) page. The “Guide to the Madonie” badge can link there.

## How do I fix the details of my business?

Hotel, B&B and restaurant listings are built from OpenStreetMap data. Fix the name, opening hours, phone or website on openstreetmap.org, with a free account, and write to [info@lemadonie.it](mailto:info@lemadonie.it?subject=Correction): the change reaches the guide with the Monday update.

Then search for the name of your business in the badge field above and copy the code. The badge takes your guests to the listing with map, contacts, opening hours and the trails and events nearby.

## Who do I write to with a question?

To [info@lemadonie.it](mailto:info@lemadonie.it?subject=Widget). The editors answer: for a missing town, a detail to fix or a widget that doesn't look right, send us the address of the page where you pasted it.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much do the widgets and badges cost?

They are free for town councils, Pro Loco, associations and businesses, and for private websites too. There is no sign-up and no paid version. We ask two things: keep the link to Le Madonie visible under the widget, because it says where the data comes from, and don't change what the widget shows. If something looks wrong, write to us and we fix it for everyone.

### Will the widget slow down my website?

It weighs a few kilobytes, loads no external fonts or libraries and only starts when the visitor scrolls to that part of the page, because the iframe uses deferred loading (loading="lazy"). The code you paste runs no script on your site: the widget lives in a separate, sandboxed frame and cannot touch your page.

### How do events, weather and snow stay up to date?

Events update every time the guide is published, at least once a day, and past events disappear on their own. Weather and snow start from the forecast downloaded in the morning; when a visitor opens the page, the browser asks Open-Meteo for the latest one. You don't have to do anything: the code you pasted stays the same.

### Can I change the size and colours of the widget?

The width follows the column of your site up to 480 pixels. You can change the height in the iframe's height attribute if you need more or less room. Light or dark theme is chosen in the configurator; with the automatic theme the widget follows the reader's device settings. The colours inside stay those of the guide, readable in both themes.

### My town or my business isn't there: what can I do?

Event widgets exist for the towns the guide describes, those on the villages page. The business badge works for hotels, B&Bs, farm stays, mountain huts and places to eat that have a listing. If your town or business is missing, write to info@lemadonie.it with the name and an official source, such as the council website or the OpenStreetMap entry.

### Can I use the badge without a listing in the guide?

The “Find us on Le Madonie” badge links to your business listing, so it only makes sense if the listing exists. Town councils, Pro Loco, associations and anyone writing about the area can use the “Guide to the Madonie” badge, which links to the page of the town you pick or to the guide's home page.
