## Programme

13th edition. Saturday bread and pasta workshop and street food; Sunday at 6 pm re-enactment of life on the threshing floor with "a pisata" and "a spartenza", then a tasting of wheat products.

The Sagra del Grano in Pianello is the farming festival of the hamlet of Pianello, part of Petralia Soprana. Over two days in early August it re-enacts life on the threshing floor, with "a pisata", threshing the wheat with mules, and "a spartenza", the sharing out of the harvest, and offers tastes of what comes from wheat: bread, fresh pasta, baked sweets and street food. The 13th edition was held on 1 and 2 August 2026.

## The threshing-floor re-enactment

The heart of the festival is the staging of farm life. "A pisata" is threshing the wheat with mules on the threshing floor. Then comes "a spartenza", the sharing out of the harvest. In 2025 both moments were accompanied by the recital of old folk sayings that marked each stage of the wheat cycle, from ear to flour ([Madonie Press](https://www.madoniepress.it/2025/08/01/petralia-soprana-celebra-la-tradizione-con-la-sagra-del-grano-di-pianello/)).

In 2026 the re-enactment, on Sunday at 6 pm, featured the folk group "U Rafo" and the Ragazzi in Folk Engium.

The soundtrack also included Tum Tum Tarantella and a DJ set by Emme Iggi. According to [Madonie Press](https://www.madoniepress.it/2026/08/03/la-tradizione-continua-successo-per-la-xiii-sagra-del-grano-a-pianello/), the 2026 edition drew thousands of visitors.

## What to eat

The tasting route follows the wheat: bread, fresh pasta, baked sweets and savoury specialities made by local women, with seasonal fruit. Saturday evening's street food, with panelle, spleen and sausage, was one of the busiest moments.
