The Sagra dà Purpietta c'Addauru is Gratteri's festival of "purpietta c'addauru", the bay-leaf meatball: minced meat wrapped between two fresh bay leaves and cooked until the leaves release their scent. It takes place at the Belvedere Ganci Battaglia, the town's panoramic terrace, with tastings from late afternoon and music until night. The sixth edition was on Saturday 22 August 2026.

## What is purpietta c'addauru?

"Purpietta c'addauru" is Sicilian for meatball with bay leaf. The secret is in the cooking: the meat mixture is wrapped between two fresh bay leaves, which release essential oils and aroma in the heat ([Balarm](https://www.balarm.it/news/notti-magiche-e-sapori-irresistibili-tutti-gli-eventi-dell-estate-nel-cuore-di-gratteri-168415)). For the Pro Loco it's a dish that belongs to Gratteri's identity.
